Similar problem here. On Ubuntu 11.10
Shutdown will not work from lightDM or from desktop if another user is logged into the same machine. Only the last logged in user can shutdown from their desktop. This is true on multiple machines for me. Older versions of Ubuntu allowed shutdown by any admin user on input of password. Workaround 1 - create a launcher that runs "sudo shutdown -P now" running in a terminal (password required). Note "-P" is necessary or machine will hang before powering off. Workaround 2 - switch to tty2 (ctrl-alt-F2), log in and run the "sudo shutdown -P now" command manually. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/908923 Title: Restart/Shutdown actions do not work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/908923/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
