My Radeon HD 6850 caused trouble with suspend to ram and crashed the system 1-2 times a week with "[fglrx] asic hang happened" in syslog, no matter which driver and kernel I was using. So I was fed up with ATI/AMD-Cards und removed it. Since then, with the i7 integrated graphics, there were no more crashes with gnome-shell or cinnamon.
