Michael - It has the same problem with xsane.
When I cancel a scan that is partly finished, either in xsane or simplescan, the scanner stops where it is and does not return to the ready position. I am trying to install iscan but can only find it as 32 bit package. I will try tonight to get it to install in 64 bit Ubuntu.
