Public bug reported:

There isn't a "No sounds" theme to choose as alert sound in the sound
preferences. There used to be one, and it is necessary to get rid of
system sounds.

A workaround would be to set the "Alert volume" to zero, but that causes
all application sounds (e.g. Skype incoming calls) to be muted, which is
not what I want.

Another workaround would be to set event-sounds setting with dconf-
editor (org->gnome->desktop->sound->event-sounds). When I do this, the
theme selection dialog is grayed out, but sounds keep playing. I was
think about filing this as a separate bug, but I am not sure which
package to file it to.

If I am missing something and there is a way to get rid of system sounds
without getting rid of specific application sounds, please let me know.
