Public bug reported: >From the manpage (man 1 screen): -R attempts to resume the youngest (in terms of creation time) detached screen session it finds. If successful, all other command-line options are ignored. If no detached ses‐ sion exists, starts a new session using the specified options, just as if -R had not been specified. The option is set by default if screen is run as a login-shell (actually screen uses "-xRR" in that case). For combinations with the -d/-D option see there. Note: Time-based session selection is a Debian addition.
I have two detached sessions hanging: [user@uqbar ~] screen -ls There are screens on: 22457.pts-1.uqbar (16/01/2012 11:36:31) (Detached) 22042.pts-1.uqbar (16/01/2012 11:26:14) (Detached) 2 Sockets in /var/run/screen/S-user. >From a terminal I get the following: [user@uqbar ~] screen -R There are several suitable screens on: 22457.pts-1.uqbar (16/01/2012 11:36:31) (Detached) 22042.pts-1.uqbar (16/01/2012 11:26:14) (Detached) Type "screen [-d] -r [pid.]tty.host" to resume one of them. Instead of resuming any detached session.
