Miklos - thanks so much, it works great on my system (Oneric 32 bit), as does the fix for the bug with nux that you posted elsewhere.
The only slightly weird thing with the bamf fix is that when the files are first opened, the generic openoffice icon (just a white document) appears momentarily in the launcher, but then it disappears and the little white triangles appear next to the writer icon as they should.
