@James, if there is no file /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state present when your system is frozen, then you likely don't have a GPU lockup bug. Remember, you need to ssh into the box while it's frozen to collect the file (if apport doesn't automatically collect it for you, which it *should* be doing.)
