Public bug reported:

My laptop monitor maximum display resolution is 1280x800, however Ubunto
only detects a max resolution of 1024x768.

Windows vista detects the full monitor resolution.

I would really wish to see this issue fixed has there are more people in
the foruns that have it and it comes from older releases and still
hasen't been fixed.

At least a GUI way of adding undetected resolutions with a revert after
15 seconds unless user says so, would be nice.
