I use the English language (en_US.UTF-8) and tried the above solution
(reproduce below) and it did not work.  I am using the baseline as of
01/24/2012 (fully updated).

sudo locale-gen -purge
sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales
Reboot and log-in.

Still get [Invalid UTF-8]
