@JazzyNico, the floating dialog position issue in comment #44 seems to be a separate issue. It can be reproduced on the trunk (r10923) by opening a floating dialog, closing it and then reopening it. Under Ubuntu 11.10 the position of the floating window is different each time it is opened.
