I was very happy that all parts of hardware were working after I installed U12.04 LTS alpha... until I was using kernel 3.2.0-9 or before, scanner worked, amd64 Unity etc. Than after few updates, kernel version up to 3.2.0-10 and higher, system stopped "seeing" the scanner. No other changes were made. Yesterday I checked U12.04 alpha2 without installing and only X12.04 was seeing the scanner. I hope I helped you. Best
PS. Otherwise the system seems to be fast and doing quite well, some programs did not work at first, but later more and more things started to come together.
