Public bug reported: When upgrading my 12.04 system to libc6 2.15-0ubuntu2 via update- manager, I got a debconf prompt that asked me whether services should be restarted. I answered 'yes'. A second or so later I got another debconf dialog that said that gdm failed to restart (see attached screenshot).
Dialog text: "The following services could not be restarted for the GNU libc library upgrade: gdm You will need to start these services manually by running '/etc/init.d/<service> start'." (Not sure if this should go under gdm since that's where the failure is or libc since that's what triggered the failure) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: libc6 2.15-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-14.23-generic 3.2.3 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-14-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 1.91-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 Date: Mon Feb 13 17:05:41 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.10 "Maverick Meerkat" - Beta amd64 (20100901.1) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: eglibc UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-02-13 (0 days ago) ** Affects: eglibc (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/931745 Title: gdm restart failure during libc6 upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eglibc/+bug/931745/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
