Public bug reported: I updated (not a fresh install) from Kubuntu Oneiric to Kubuntu 12.04 Alpha 2 amd64 with regular daily Software Updates.
I started Firefox Nightly from a terminal and I think when I went to a Flash movie, the following appeared in the terminal: ALSA lib conf.c:1220:(parse_def) show is not a compound ALSA lib conf.c:1686:(snd_config_load1) _toplevel_:24:26:Unexpected char ALSA lib conf.c:3406:(config_file_open) /usr/share/alsa/pulse-alsa.conf may be old or corrupted: consider to remove or fix it I also get the same warnings if I run `aplay /usr/share/sounds/pop.wav` Sound seems to work despite the warnings. Google found the same error text in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+question/187569 . That gave me the idea to download and run alsa-info.sh % wget -O alsa-info.sh http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-info.sh && chmod +x ./alsa-info.sh && ./alsa-info.sh which prints the same warnings. I will attach its output. I have pulseaudio 1:1.1-0ubuntu9 installed, and my /usr/share/alsa /pulse-alsa.conf is unchanged from the package. I have alsa-base 1.0.25 +dfsg-0ubuntu installed. More info is in the attachment. ** Affects: pulseaudio (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/936673 Title: warnings about pulse-alsa.conf from ALSA lib conf.c To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/936673/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
