I get the same problems whenever I open any xls files in Gnumeric. Its quite frustrating, as opening xls files is one one Gnumerics main strengths !
Unfortunately, I have to go back to Windows to use Gnumeric rather than Feisty. Info - Running Feisty full version and files created in MS Office 2000.
