I can only hope that a human being sees this! :-( Again the diagnostic was run under Ubuntu 11.04 and it was my hope that a human being would quickly spot precisely what CPU I am using.
The laptop is my production machine, and I am unwilling to upgrade the kernel except under the guidance of a normal update of Ubuntu 11.04 (presumably for security reasons)! Note also that I encountered this problem while trying to boot the CD- ROM of ubuntu-12.04-beta1-desktop-i386 into running LIVE.
