Predictable recipe to hard lock the oneiric kernel. 1) Have some usb2 devices attached to a usb port through a usb hub (in my case an hp printer and a scanner) 2) unplug the usb hub (leaving the devices attached to it) 3) Plug the usb hub to the usb3 port.
Immediately you get a hard freeze.
