Okay, I've seen it a couple of times now, the problem being that each
time it crashed X so hard I couldn't get back to gdb (which was running
in a gnome-terminal instance).

The X crash is probably due to my running buggy fglrx drivers, since
I've seen the bamf issue before (while on the open-source radeon
drivers) without that symptom. Unfortunately, I wasn't running under gdb
at the time.

I'll set gdb up to run under a tty (which is accessible post-crash)
instead and post back when it happens again.
