There are two parts to this: - Somewhere in the upstartification we lost the emergency mounting of an 1 MB /tmp tmpfs if /tmp had less than 1 MB of free space. This is in mountall, I'm working on this.
- lightdm cannot write /var/lib/lightdm/.Xauthority as user "lightdm" when the disk has less than 5% free space (i. e. it counts as "full" for users). Here it would help if lightdm wrote its .Xauthority file somewhere into /run/. Robert, does it actually need to be permanent across reboots? ** Summary changed: - Full hard drive causes xorg to fail to load + Full hard drive causes xorg and lightdm to fail to load ** Changed in: mountall (Ubuntu) Importance: High => Undecided ** Changed in: mountall (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => In Progress ** Changed in: mountall (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Martin Pitt (pitti) ** Also affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags added: rls-p-tracking ** Changed in: lightdm (Ubuntu) Status: New => Triaged ** Also affects: lightdm (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Status: Triaged ** Also affects: mountall (Ubuntu Precise) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) Status: In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/932598 Title: Full hard drive causes xorg and lightdm to fail to load To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/932598/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
