Amber, can you open a terminal and run the following commands:

sudo rmmod thinkpad_acpi
sudo modprobe thinkpad_acpi fan_control=1
echo "level full-speed" > /proc/acpi/ibm/fan

This will set the fans to full speed and should in theory keep the CPU +
GPU cool. Next run the machine as normal for 24 hours or so to see if
it overheats. Note that the above commands need to be run after each
time you boot the machine as they are not persistent.

If the machine does reboot due to overheating with the fans turned on at
full speed I suspect it is a hardware issue. Please report back your
findings if it does or does not reboot.

Thanks!
