Public bug reported: Wifi chips often receive significant updates in newer kernel which often enhance stability and performance. The AC100 is still at version 3.0 with some rt2x00 patches backported from mainline. This does not include updates to the net/* subsystem though. i386 and x86_64 archs provide a linux-backports-modules package for distributions with older kernels for this reason, which contains kernel modules from the compat-wireless archive (http://www.orbit-lab.org/kernel/compat-wireless-3-stable) coresponding to the latest (Ubuntu) released kernel version.
A further improvement would be to suppy a e.g. a daily package containing the lastest compat-wireless archive from http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Download ensuring that the latest bug fixes and network stack are included. ** Affects: linux-ac100 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/955983 Title: enable linux-backports-modules for ac100 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-ac100/+bug/955983/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
