OK, I attempted to install and test the kernel, but it doesn't want to boot properly. Booting normally, I end up with a blank purple screen. In recovery mode, I get as far as this message: Starting TiMidity++ ALSA midi emulation... then nothing more. First chunk is the text sent automatically to the file as per my terminal command, the second is copied from the terminal itself.
