I have tried to test the latest upstream kernel as advised, by downloading the 
.deb package with the 
linux-image-3.3.0-030300-generic_3.3.0-030300.201203182135_amd64, then 
installing it.
 
After restarting the machine the new kernel hangs up before entering the 
desktop, a black screen it's all shown, so I was unable to test this upstream 
kernel; Also, it didn't work to "startx" it in recovery mode.

I'm writing this with the standard kernel installed in Oneiric.
