Public bug reported: I had libreoffice-wiki-publisher 1.1.1+LibO3.5.0-2ubuntu1 installed.
Upgrading packages (e.g. "apt-get upgrade") completely failed -- all the front ends I tried hung (apt-get, aptitude, and the gui system update). No error message was given. By installing only half the packages at a time, I narrowed down the problematic package to just one, libreoffice-wiki-publisher 1.1.1+LibO3.5.1-1ubuntu1 There is something in the packaging here that prevents any packages from installing when this package is set to install. I also noticed high CPU usage, but it never completed whatever it was trying to do (although the CPU got hot). Removing the package (e.g. marking it for removal in aptitude) clears up the problem, although of course that feature is thereby disabled.
