Sorry to bother you again. My scanner works occasionally. It does work 
in countless other distributions (50% of them to be precise). In Ubuntu 
12.04 it works sometimes, most of the time in fresh install of Lubuntu 
and Xubuntu, before they are updated...
I think it might be a discrepancy in dependencies, as some numbers 
(versions) are different when one look in synaptic and search for them.
HP scanjet 3670 is listed in vuscan (does not work). Xsane works in 
Debian, OpenSuse, CentOs and Fedora...
I am not a programmer. I hope you know what to do with this "thing".
