The current version of gnome-documents shipped with Precise, 0.3.4, doesn't provide the ShellSearchProvider DBus service that is introduced in 0.3.90. Gnome-shell 3.4, which is shipped with Precise, relies on this to provide files results in overview because the gtk-recent- document search backend is removed. If we don't update gnome-documents to at least 0.3.90 in Precise then users will have only applications and nautilus bookmarks shown in their gnome shell overview search.
