I think it's not just the brightness, either. It seems to be the multimedia keys as well. Just trying to pause the music player with the pause button on my Dell XPS M1330 is very difficult, because pressing the pause button sends it twice, so the music pauses and instantly unpauses. If I tap it a bunch of times, I eventually get lucky and end up with an uneven number of keypresses received. The same happens with next/previous and volume buttons (e.g. mute works the same as pause).
