Neil Wilson, ok. As this is two different issues, this bug will only focus on
the first one regarding:
"I've had constant problems with this wireless adapter on several APs. With the
Apple Airport it is intermittent whether it picks it up on the scan and it
never authenticates. With other APs (the previous netgear I had) there was
intermittent disconnects for no good reason, and it never worked with Oneiric's
kernel."

Regarding the hard switch causing wireless to be disabled, your welcome to file
a new bug via the Terminal and subscribe me to it:

As well, the issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it would be
nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers of the
software by following the instructions at
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/docs/lkml/reporting-bugs.html . If you
have done so, please tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the
link), so we can add a bugwatch that will inform us about its status.
Thanks in advance.

** Description changed:

- 9280 is failing to scan and connect to Apple Airport network
-
- Wireless kill switch is erratic and often disables the wireless
- completely.
+ I've had constant problems with this 9280 wireless adapter failing to

+ it is intermittent whether it picks it up on the scan and it never
+ authenticates. With other APs (the previous netgear I had) there was
