A similar problem occurs if the screen is to big: text feels cramped and is truncated. See bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/924842 I think it should really scale so that every new user can see it. Maybe every 200px steps are enough, it doesn't have to be freescaling.
