Public bug reported:

Display goes black right after boot. If ESC is pressed repeatedly it will show 
the UBUNTU loading screen as per normal. Once it goes graphical though only the 
top half of the screen is visible. See this thread for more information.

This happens in all versions including daily build up through
Apr/07/2012.

This applies to new, fresh installation to hard disk from USB or from
Liveboot, although Liveboot (Try Ubuntu option) does show fullscreen
properly.


I used the ubuntu-bug -w command to report this bug by clicking on the top half 
of the desktop. The bottom half is of course not accessible.
