I think this may be a duplicate of bug #711635 . Basically if the mysql configuration is wrong, and mysqld can't start, mysql hangs forever in 'start/respawn'. Can somebody who is affected verify that the state of the job is 'start/respawn' before you do the stop? Also, makring the main task as Won't Fix, because Precise has 5.1 instead of 5.5. ** Changed in: mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed => Won't Fix ** Changed in: mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu Oneiric) Status: New => Triaged ** Changed in: mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu Oneiric) Status: Triaged => Confirmed ** Changed in: mysql-5.1 (Ubuntu Oneiric) Importance: Undecided => High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/885554 Title: mysql-server-5.1 Unpacking Halts 11.04-11.10 Server Upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mysql-5.1/+bug/885554/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
