I have discussed with David privately, and has confirmed that his problem is different with that of eGalaxis.
For eGalaxis devices, its MT_CLS_EGALAX info is not added into current -precise driver, so it work badly. For Quanta touchscreen device, the problem is that its driver has changed recently much, I will backport some patches from upstream kernel into precise to fix the issue. If your device is Quanta touchscreen 3008, your issue looks same with David. If not, maybe you need to post the "lsusb -vv" and 'dmesg' so that guys can find what is wrong with your device.
