I ran the command without sudo, as you suggested: unity --reset It worked! Running that command WITH sudo worked for a session, but running it WITHOUT sudo was the persisted fix (one that survives logging-out/rebooting).
Perhaps the developers over the "apt-get dist-upgrade" should automate this command to "run once" for all who upgrade to 12.04? Doing so may help a lot of upgrade avoid the troubles we covered here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/979871 Title: Unity-3D Doesn't Work After Upgrade, but DOES on Live CD Boot To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/979871/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
