ok. there is a workaround, to get unity 3d running. use the open source drivers nouveau. uninstall all nvidia drivers. install nouveau firmware from synaptic. then sudo gedit /etc/environment and add this line: UNITY_FORCE_START=1 save, reboot and you should be able to log into unity 3d .
notice it is a workaround, the performance on the nouveau drivers might not be good. i'm using this, while waiting for the 173 driver or hoping the new drivers will support my go 7300. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948053 Title: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/948053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
