On an unrelated report (bug 982767), I had the chance to ask release expert Steve Langasek about current bugs and Thursday's release. He said:
"Any fixes in this area will not make it for 12.04.0. They will be considered for inclusion in 12.04.1." That was a different piece if software, but I'll guess it probably applies to this, too, and would answer my question about urgency.
