@Alex Burfee, sadly the fix don't make it to the final version, but the
patch is already released in the kernel 3.2.0-24.37 (the final version
comes with 3.2.0-23)

You should
1. wait for 12.04.1 to be released on July 19, or

2. blacklist the problematic module following instruccions in comment #6, for 
this you must start with a live cd and add the blacklist to the 
/etc/modprobe.d/ of your actual instalation (not the modprobe.d of the live cd) 
and reboot.
2.1 when boot to the desktop update your system, and if you need the ite-cir 
then remove the file for the blacklist.
