I panicked and removed the any files I could find related to virtualbox and tried to download virtualbox_1.4.0.Ubuntu_feisty_i386.deb and tried to reload it but couldn't get passed the error.
Went to the terminal and tried to use dpkg -r command to clean things up and got the message: "The following packages are in a mess due to serious problems during installation. They must be reinstalled for them (and any packages that depend on them) to function properly: virtualbox " used dpkg -C and got the message "dpkg: error processing virtualbox (--remove): Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should reinstall it before attempting a removal. Errors were encountered while processing: virtualbox" I'm a newbee to Linux and am afraid I've really screwed something up bad, I really can't seem to reinstall the software (virtualbox); I can't even get the download package to download. Please help, is there anyway to "reset" the package manager? -- A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120114 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
