I am affected by this as well in 12.04 and in 11.10 before that. If this
is not a bug then at least a flawed design. The interface is such that
intuitively you do not log out, but just point and click to switch to
the desired user account. This then leaves you unintentionally with
multiple users logged in, and when you (administrator) want to shut down
you are in trouble.

I think this bug/flaw has nothing to do with Oneric / 32 bit. I think it
effects everybody.

It should be very easy to reproduce by switching to Guest Session, then
switch back (without log-out), and then try to shut down.

There should be a solution for this.
