Public bug reported: Runnng 12.04 LTS, upgraded from 12.04 Beta2, from 11.10 LTS. Run daily updates, including Proposed.
Starting May 1st, my system occasionally boots into, or crashes into, a readonly filesystem, as reported by trying to do something in bash or saving a file in the gui, eg. gedit. Example, earlier today the desktop hung for a minute or two (while using Firefox Aurora 14.0a2). When it resumed, the filesystem was readonly. Restarting the system fixed this instance. Possible related issue: This system has always sometimes shutdown incompletely even running very stably under 11.10 LTS, eg. the shutdown image occasionally stops with the last two dots in the sequence staying white. However, the booting into a readonly filesystem only started on May 1st. Sorry for the incomplete/rambling-style bug report, but this issue has become annoying and I usually find if I run into a problem lots of other folks will too. I'll happily provide whatever log fragments etc as asked for. Looking at syslog and kern.log might it be affiliated with this msg: Buffer I/O error on device sr0 ?
