I'm also experiencing high power consumption on 12.04. What happens: Power consumption averages at 27 watts idle, which is much higher than the < 5 watts I experience on Windows 7. My computer also runs much warmer on 12.04, around 60 C, which is much higher than the running temperature of 40-45 C I experience on Windows 7.
What should happen: The system's total power consumption should be < 10 watts and the computer should operate at ~45 C.
