This affects me too while working lp:gcc. Simply branching or doing checkouts is often needed on PCs with little RAM to just fetch a specific revision of the software and compile/test. So there should be at least one way (be it --lightweight or --stacked I don't care) that would actually work and need no more memory than wget. :-)
