There is a simple workaround. - Copy /usr/share/applications/thunderbird.desktop to ~/.local/share/applications - Edit thunderbird.desktop - Change the MimeType option to: "MimeType=text/*;application/*;image/*;audio/*;video/*;x-scheme-handler/mailto;" (without quotes)
