I have updated the message to include more details.

Thanks

** Description changed:

- After I install Ubuntu or Xubuntu 12.04 and restart, grub starts in high
- resolution and my monitor displays "Out of frequency".
+ After default installation of Ubuntu 12.04, grub gets configured to use
+ high resolution beyond that of my monitor. When the computer reboots, I
+ see "Out of Frequency" on my monitor.

- I had to customize grub by installing grub-customizer.
+ Hardware specs of my computer:
+
+ 18 inch Acer LED Monitor
+ AMD 7750 Dual Core Processor
+ 2 GB DDR2 RAM
+ 500 GB Samsung Hard disk
+ On board Nvidia 6600
+
+ The same error was observed on Xubuntu default install as well.
+
+ Had to use grub-customizer to rectify grub settings as a temporary fix.

+ Performed the default installation using Ubuntu 12.04 Live CD
+
+ When I rebooted the computer, I couldn't see the grub menu. I see a
+ "Input Mode Not Supported" message due to high resolution that my
+ monitor can't display.
