Public bug reported: I've recently updated from Ubuntu 11.10 (64 bits) to 12.04, but I don't know if the problem occurred before as I used Gnome 3. After the update I tried Unity and I notice delays in opengl games (not just framerate drop, but even when limited at the same FPS it feels to pause repeatedly for fractions of a second).
Changing the window manager temporarily to metacity (or starting a session without Unity) solves the issue, as indicated here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1741768 This thread is a bit old, but I think it describes the same problem. If this can't be solved, would it be possible to add a widget or command (cleaner than "metacity --replace && program && unity --replace") to enable/disable compiz (or whatever causes the problem)? ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/998507 Title: Slow opengl games under Unity To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/998507/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
