Public bug reported: installing 12.04 over 11.10 using downloaded ISO (md5sum correct) burnt to DVD. Install aborted about 30% of way through installation after copying files. All parameters w.r.t keyboard, locale, users already sey. The download updates was not checked, but system was connected to internet. Partition size large enough; using a separate /home directory (as existed for 11.10).
Will attempt reinstall and expect system is dead in the meantime. If fails a second time, will install 11.10 and then upgrade to 12.04.
