I did the following today. I downloaded the 2.0 driver for 64 bit systems (I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit) from openprinting.org: http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Samsung/Samsung-ML-1710
I deleted the Samsung ML-1710 from my printers. In Printers in 12.04, right click on the icon and select delete. I installed the downloaded driver from above through the software center by right clicking it and selecting open with the software center. I had the printer on when I ran the driver install, but it did not show up in the printers box after the driver was installed. I shut down and rebooted. The printer was there, and so far it is working!!!!!!!! Yea!!!!!!!!! Now after a print job, instead of the status box saying idle - sending data to printer, it says idle - Rendering completed. Hopefully this helps others, and hopefully it keep working this way!!!!!!!!! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/979431 Title: Samsung ML-1710 Fails to Print To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/979431/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
