This bug needs to be reopened. Closing it because of some hardware issue when affected hardware clearly could be driven properly in earlier versions is a cop out. The reality is, users are affected by the software upgrade adversely. Blaming it on the hardware is silly. Even if that hardware contains a flaw, it clearly can be worked around - in this case, by choosing a different protocol.
