> I think "hang" is too strong a word for this problem. The mouse
pointer is still active, which may matter quite a lot in debugging this.
A hang where the entire display is frozen, pointer included, is more
dire.

necessary. Is there anything I can do to help capture more information?

Is there a later driver that I can get and install myself?
