Doing that now (rebooted to get sound to stop working). pulseaudio -k does not work, and on top of that, I've pressed Ctrl+C to stop pulseaudio (as described on that page), and it takes a very long time to stop pulseaudio. I was about to type that it doesn't, but it just... Took way too long.
