Public bug reported:

I am using Ubuntu 12.04
I had a notification that my HDD space is running low so I need to delete some
files. I cancelled the notification and planned to delete some files after I am
finish with my download - only a few MBs left. After the download is done, my
system just crashed and when I rebooted then all the problems started.

initramfs-tools gives me an error 1 everytime I try to update, upgrade
or install a package. This is after I crashed my previous session last
night.
