I can add that this affects Ubuntu 12.04 host trying to install Ubuntu 12.04 guest aswell.
I'm experiencing the exact same thing every second or third installation, but the other guest installations works just fine. My solution to this is at the moment to destroy the VM and delete all related files on hard disk and then run the vmbuilder installation again. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't.
